Miami Central's "Green Jacket Club" & MCRAA Join Forces To Raise $40K For Weight Room Restoration

The time has come for our Student Athletes to have a Athletic Weight Training Facility that will ensure that they are able to continue to compete at a Championship level in all Boy's & Girl's Sports at Miami Central.

Actually, it's long overdue.

The Miami Central Football Alumni "Green Jacket Club" in conjunction with The MCRAA Alumni Association have initiated "The 400 Club Weight Room Initiative" - in which 400 former Rocket Athletes, Alumni, Family, & Friends are being asked to donate $100 to the Fundraising Initiative. The "Green Jacket Club" President Michael Jordan, MCRAA President & "Green Jacket Club" Member Carlton Wright, MCRAA President Emeritus William "DC" Clark, and MCRAA Fundraising Committee Co-Chair & "Green Jacket Club" Member Eugene E. Clapp are spearheading the Fundraising efforts for this initiative. MCRAA Fundraising Committee Co-Chair & "Green Jacket Club" Member Eugene E. Clapp stated:

"Point blank, Championship Teams deserve a Championship-caliber Training Facility. The images shown on Social Media and on Mainstream Media indeed were disturbing, but the initiative to rectify the situation was already underway as a result of the efforts of Principal Raymond Sands and Miami Central Teachers Arthur Diamond & Terrance Hunt. They raised $8,000 through their efforts and got new weight equipment placed into the Training Facility, but MUCH, MUCH more is needed. They "got-the-ball-rolling", but as Alumns of Miami Central High and "Rockets-4-Life", we have to "take the baton" , come together, and finish "running this race". The "Green Jacket Club and MCRAA have joined forces to ensure that this happens and we created "The 400 Club Weight Room Initiative" to raise the necessary funds that are needed to give all our School's Athletic Teams a top-quality Athletic Training Facility."

The math is simple: 400 individuals x $100 donations = $40,000

All donations will come through MCRAA. To donate, visit The MCRAA Fundraising Committee's website and click on the DONATE link. It is IMPORTANT that you remember to earmark your donation for this Initiative as: "FOR WEIGHT ROOM PROJECT!" so it can be set aside in a special account designated just for "The 400 Club Weight Room Initiative".

The target date for the Weight Room Project to be funded and completed is by August 1, 2023.
